Teaching

So Mak is an educator and facilitator with over 15 years of experience teaching at the intersection of art and social justice. My range as an educator spans from kindergarten to graduate school. In the recent years, I have taught:

  • Integrative Studio 1 and 2 with undergraduates at Parsons School of Design

  • Interdisciplinary Projects with graduate students NYU Steinhardt

  • Political education workshops with high school aged women of color at the Sadie Nash Leadership Project

  • Multi-disciplinary art classes for 5-9 year olds

As a facilitator, So brings a sharp power analysis and a creative, emergent approach to challenging group conversations about racial equity. Their performance background allows So to create imaginative learning spaces that cultivate trust and vulnerability with participants, often inviting reflection and deep change.

So has facilitated trainings and equity organizational change processes with non-profits, schools, and collectives. Some workshops that So offers include:

  • Anti-Oppression Fundamentals for Organizations

  • Anti-Oppression Fundamentals for young people

  • Trans/Gender Justice 101

  • Navigating PWIs for college bound young people

  • Building Healthy Relationships / Communication
